WHO IS IN CONTROL?

WHO IS IN CONTROL?

Today, we find ourselves in the middle of the lives of Jacob, Rachel, and Leah. Jacob had worked for 14 years for a man named Laban, who was the father of Rachel and Leah. He had done this, in exchange for Rachel’s hand in marriage. As you read, you will see Jacob was deceived and was given Leah instead, and had to work again for the hand of Rachel, the one he truly loved.

As time went on, they wanted children. And we read that Leah gave birth a few times before Rachel did. There was competition in the house because they were sisters, and both the wife of Jacob. All in all, there were 12 children born to Jacob. And as we read the family tree and account of births, one thing stuck out to me, and thats the main thought for the devotion this morning!

GOD IS IN CONTROL OF EVERYTHING

God is the one who opened the wombs of Leah and eventually Rachel. God knew Jacob would have to spend 14 years working for Rachel instead of the 7 he had thought he would work. I want you to see what Scripture says in Genesis 30:22

“Then God remembered Rachel. He listened to her and opened her womb”

God is the one who is on control. Everything that happens in your life, God knows it will happen. God is in control. God sees us. God knows the trials we will face. In this case, Rachel desired children. But she hadnt been abe to have any.

I remember when Amanda and myself were told by doctors we probably couldn’t have kids. We were devestated. And we ultimately had to understand that Gods will was going to be done! A desire we both had, seemed to be taken away in an instant! But, now we have 2 beautiful girls to look at and know that God hears us. God is all powerful, and God is the one who has it all under control.

Whatever you are facing today, know that God knows! And God can do something about it!
