OUR FULFILLMENT

I would give credit to the author if I knew who it was, but I saw this quote this morning and wanted to share it with you all.
"My numerous sins transferr'd to him,
Shall never more be found,
Lost in his blood's atoning stream,
Where every crime is drown'd!"
This perfectly sums up what I believe Leviticus is all about.
WE DESERVE THE FULL WEIGHT AND PUNISHMENT OF HELL, BUT WE RECEIVED THE FULL AND FREE BENEFITS OF GRACE!
The book of Leviticus is about the sacrificial practices and rules that the people and priests had to follow! As I read our chapters today, I looked to a commentary for some clarification and understanding. A truth that we need to be eternally grateful for is this—JESUS CHRIST IS THE FULFILLMENT.
Starting in Chapter 1, going through Chapter 5, we are introduced to 5 different types of offerings. I will briefly share these and how Jesus is our fulfillment of them over the next few days of devotions!
1. The Burnt Offering. This is the first offering in Chapter 1. Jesus Christ is our fulfillmet of this offering, and we see that in Ephesians 5:2—“and walk in love, as Christ also loved us and gave himself for us, a sacrificial and fragrant offering to God.”
I am so glad that I do not have to make atonement and sacrifice for my sins every single day. I do not have to slaughter an animal, lay it on an altar, and burn it before the Lord! But the truth is, God’s law demands perfection, and because we can’t attain that, it requires sacrifice! Back then, Jesus had not come yet, so offering animals was what was pleasing to the Lord. But beloved, Jesus was slaughtered on a wooden cross for you and me! He became our literal sacrifice. Now, God looks and sees Jesus’ blood. “When He looks at me, He sees the nail scarred hands, that bought my liberty.” No longer does Jesus see a condemned and rotten sinner when He looks at me! He sees a blood bought, born again, child of the King! And if you know Christ, that is what He sees in you as well!
Over the next few days, we will look at the other offerings, and see how Jesus is our fulfillment! For today, may I encourage you to just tell God thank you for His sacrifice of Jesus! Be grateful for the blood that washes away your sin!
Just tell Jesus, thank you!
He is OUR FULFILLMENT!
