JUST. SIMPLY.OBEY.

This morning, we finished up the book of Exodus. It has been a wonderful journey the last few weeks. We have seen God do amazing things in the lives of the Israelite people. Deliverance, provision, protection—all tof which showed God’s love for His people!

I have often heard “peope don’t remember how you start, but how you finish.”. In this specific context of a book of the Bible, I believe it is all good and we should remember it all. I want to run with that quote and look at how this book ends, and what it teaches us today! It is actually in the first verse of chapter 39!

They made specially woven garments for ministry in the sanctuary, and the holy garments for Aaron from the blue, purple, and scarlet yarn, just as the Lord had commanded Moses.

The book of Exodus is literally about the exit from bondage. The deliverance from Egypt! But a common theme throughout this book, is that we are to obey our God!

I used to sing a song when I was growing up—”Obedience is the very best way to show that you believe”.

What truth was packed in that song, and I didn’t even realize it! Jesus tells us that if we love Him, we will keep His commandments. Obedience matters. Obedience to God is a foundation of our spiriutal life and success. God isn’t looking for excuses. He isn’t looking for half done obedience. He doesn’t want us to worry or be anxious. He simply wants us to obey!

God had commanded very specifically how the tent of meeting and the garments were supposed to be constructed. And they followed it to a T! They did EXACTLY as God had commanded! They simply obeyed everything He had said!

I can tell you from personal experience in my life that it goes so much better for me when I obey! That doesn't mean my life is a bed of roses and rains gumdrops all the time. It does mean that if I find myself in a test or trial because of my obedience to God, then I know He has brought me to it and He will bring me through it!

I just want to simply encourage you today, obey God! What is God telling you to do, that you just need to say “Yes, Lord”, and do? Don’t play games with God! Don’t talk yourself out of obedience because of fear!
