IS IT POSSIBLE?

There are a lot of things in this life that I ask the question “Is it possible?”. Is it possible for the Washington Redskins to win a Super Bowl in my lifetime? Is it possible to wake up early, work out, and actually enjoy doing so? Is it possible for everyone to get along?

As a Christian, we read in Leviticus that we are to be holy, because God is Holy. IS IT POSSIBLE?

The word holy or holiness in the Hebrew means to be set apart, different, or dedicated. And when we read Leviticus 19-21, we see that intertwined throughout these chapters.

Chapter 19, we see that God is applying the ten commandments to different aspects of human life and existence. In Chapters 20-21, we see the phrase “sets him apart”, or “sets you apart”. The Lord is telling the people to give up their idol worship. To be different than the culture around them who worshipped idols. God had a plan for His people, and part of that plan included them being dedicated to Him and Him only!

God expects the same from us today. This culture around us has tried so hard to push God and Jesus out of society. But we must be different than this world! We must take a stand. We need to be holy! Now, will we ever achieve the holiness that God possesses? No, we can’t! We are not perfect and never will be. But, we can live every single day with this though in mind—“Is what I am doing pursuing the holiness of God?”

I don’t think that that is an unfair expectation. We are to live every single day to please and honor the audience of one, Jesus Christ! It will require work. We must actively choose to not sin. We must actively choose to do right. We are presented with that choice every day, multiple times a day! And unfortunately, we choose wrong at times!

But I want to encourage you today, choose holiness! Choose right!

Is it possible to be holy? It is! It will take work! But, good things are worth working for!
