ARE ALIENS REAL?

I truly don’t know what you, as the reader, believes about aliens! Some people believe they are not real. Some people believe they are real. Some don’t know what they believe. If you want to know what I believe, just call me and I will be glad to tell you. There is no shame in my game. :)
The Bible, especially in the last few weeks of reading, has said this phrase “resident alien” quite a bit!
Leviticus 23:22 - “When you reap the harvest of your land, you are not to reap all the way to the edge of your field or gather the gleanings of your harvest. Leave them for the poor and the resident alien; I am the Lord your God.”
The resident alien in Bible times was someone who wasn’t a local. I would be considered a resident alien in the town of Madison because I didn’t grow up here, but I am living here! People would become resident aliens for a number of reasons, and often times they were treated very poorly. They were looked at as less than. Not good enough! They didn’t have as much to offer as a resident of the town.
As I have read this phrase over and over now, my mind continues to be drawn to this thought, “WE ARE RESIDENT ALIENS”
“This world is not my home I’m just a passing through. The angels beckon me from Heaven’s open door, and I can’t feel at home in this world anymore.”
You and I live in this world, but truthfully, this is not our home. It is our temporary residence! Knowing Christ, we know our home is in Heaven! And with that thought, I want to share a few truths with you this morning, as a resident alien!
1. Don’t live for the here and now. We focus too much on this world and what it has to offer us. Fame, fortune, friendships that don’t matter. This world promises pleasure, but pays with pain. Our life here is short, and yet we live and act like this life is all that matters! Beloved, we have a whole eternal existence awaiting us after death, and that is what we are supposed to live for.
2. Tell others about Jesus. Think of this—EVERY SINGLE PERSON you pass today, will spend an eternity somewhere! Every worker at Walmart or Target(if you’re fancy), every worker at your favorite lunch spot, and even every person you pass on the road, even the ones who make you mad. They will all meet Jesus face to face one day. They will either hear “Well done my faithful servant” OR “depart from me, I never knew you”. So, we need to be a witness for Jesus! Tell others about Him. Give your personal testimony on how you came to Christ!
3. Be grateful that you’re accepted. For too many years of my life, I lived to try and be accepted by people on this earth. When in all reality, the only acceptance I need is from God! I just need to be accepted by the King of Kings and Lord of Lords! And because I know Jesus, because I am a resident alien, I am accepted by Him! JESUS is who I aim to please! Jesus is who I seek to find! You and I should be grateful that God accepts us, and allows us entrance to Heaven through His son, Jesus!
Honestly, the best way to be grateful, is to live a life pleasing to God! Today, maybe just talk with the Lord and tell Him thank you for what He has done for you! Maybe you need to reshift your focus! Maybe you need to pray and ask God to help make you more aware of the people around you! Maybe, you just need to tell God thank you!
Today is the day! Don’t wait!
Aliens are real, because you and I are one, but that’s the best person to be!
